Here’s Why Everyone Adores the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT

The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT is noteworthy for its stunning bodywork that is bound to attract the attention of any car lover. This high-performance sports car was made explicitly by Mercedes to rival the rear-engine Porsche 911 with a hand-built twin-turbo V8 engine. Although the AMG GT is not that seamless to ride like its rival Porsche, it is still very athletic and surprisingly pretty smooth on ordinary streets with bumpers and boulders.

Model Overview
The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT is tailor-made for those who appreciate a refined grand tourer or those with sportier tastes. Mercedes offers the 523-hp GT and 550-hp GT C for the former group, while the latter group will be inclined to models like 577-hp GT R and GT R Pro.

Here’s Why Everyone Adores the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT
Most models come in either soft-top-roadster or coupe forms; however, the track-oriented Pro and the robust 720-hp Black Series are available in hard-top only.

Engine, Performance, and Transmission
Every Mercedes-AMG GT has a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine and an automatic seven-speed dual-clutch. However, the model type depends on the level of output the hand-built engine will deliver. The base GT generates 523 horsepower and comes standard with a limited-slip rear differential and adaptive dampers. Even though these models did not bring any notable changes in the GT C and GT R engines, the predecessors saw the incorporation of 550 and 577-horsepower-producing machines in the respective models.

The GT C Roadster demonstrated a brutally quick pace when tested on the track. And with the top down, it allowed the driver to feel the snarling exhaust note of AMG. In contrast, the GT R model exhibited a comparatively slow pace but offered a pretty civil ride. The Pro version of the GT R is pretty hardcore for daily driving but is more fun and seamless to drive on the race track.

Among the various GT models, the new Black series takes up the mantle of being the ultimate GT coupe. It is fundamentally a street-legal race car with a set of track-oriented modifications and more lightweight materials. Besides that, it comes with a flat-plane-crank version of AMG’s twin-turbo V8 and is noted for producing a whopping 720 horsepower.

Real-World Fuel Economy
Given the Mercedes-AMG GT’s performance level, it is no surprise that its lineup is pretty thirsty. However, the customers won’t have to stress about fuel economy as it is far less dire than one’s expectations. While the base GT is rated to give 16 miles per gallon on city roads and 22 on the highway, the more powerful GT C drops the numbers to 15 in the city and 21 on the highway.

Interior, Cargo, and Comfort
Mercedes-Benz, as a brand, is well known for its lavish interiors. The AMG GT is no exception to this established rule. The interior has a superb build, and the materials used are of premium quality and on par with the high sticker price. Even though the cabin is not that spacious, the driver’s position is perfectly placed, with all the car’s capacitative touch controls and performance settings within reach of the driver.

The 12.3-inch fully digital gauge cluster is excellent. Just like Porche, Mercedes places the drive mode selector on the driving wheel of the AMG GT, improving the accessibility of the driver to necessary driving tools and buttons. The Roadsters come with a power-operated roof that drops in just a few seconds, and with almost 10 cubic feet of cargo room, the trunk size of the GT is virtually twice that of the Porsche 911.

Overall, the AMG GT lineup by Mercedes-Benz can be regarded as an excellent car with stunning exteriors and well-furnished interiors. This gorgeous vehicle isn’t just eye candy, providing sufficient cargo room and all the necessary safety features while looking stylish.
